Default Lateral peak g-force records from stock, spring and new front tires.

I've recorded some g-force readings using Dynolicious during my canyon drives.
I would like to share them and let you see how those mods improve gripping ability of my CR-Z. Don't pay too much attention to acceleration numbers. There are up and down hills in canyon so numbers are vary. Braking G is just for reference, I wasn't trying to get max readings.

Stock (stock 16inch wheels and Dunlop tires):
Max Acceleration: 0.38 G
Max Braking: 0.62 G
Max Lateral: 0.87 G

Swift springs installed:
Max Acceleration: 0.45 G
Max Braking: 0.71 G
Max Lateral: 0.87 G

Swift springs + new front tires (Continental PeriumContact 2):
Max Acceleration: 0.75 G
Max Braking: 0.34 G
Max Lateral: 0.96 G

The conclusion is simple and straight forward. Tires are very important. In stock form the car rolls and leans a lot. I didn't fell confident pushing the car. After springs were installed, I gained more confidence at limit but I wasn't able to exceed the limit of those stock tires.
I just changed front tires yesterday. In today's canyon drive, I have a great joy. The whole car feel totally different. There are so much more grip. I can flat out exiting some corners. Since I still have stock rear tires and I can carry more speed, it is even easier to make the rear slides. Just ease of throttle during mid-corner as before. It isn't scary at all and is very controllable. Once the rear end slides to my preferred position, back on throttle and those grippy front tires can pull the car back straight.
I still haven't developed a clear idea of the limit. I see a possibility to reach 1G in future. As a reference, a BTCC race car can reach 1.7 lateral G. A stock European version BMW 320 Si can reach 1.1G.

P.S. This isn't a skipad test nor a scientific controlled test. But I did use the same phone, the same app and the same holder. No intention to encourage any sort of racing on public road. I'm not responsible for any accident and stupid driving after reading my post. Be smart, be careful and stay on one lane. Canyon drive can be fun and safe.

Sounds like you'll be able to hit 1g no problem once you get more comfortable with the new hardware.
Awesome info, thanks!

Successfully reached 1.02g on track

BTW, I also noticed that the tire shop did not put on the tire I wanted. They put Continental PeriumContact instead of Continental ContiSportContact 2. A couple friends recommended that shop. Stupid me, I trusted them and didn't check after they were done.

Angry

Let me guess: now they won't take those tires back and give you what you asked (and paid) for? Some people's kids have no attention to detail, I swear.

Yea, I'm sort of screwed. Hope there's place do tire trade-in in LA area.

Did 1.10G last night. On par with a stock European version BMW 320 Si.

Continental PeriumContact 2 Front, Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport Rear

If anyone know any shop in LA area deals with used tire, please let me know. I really want to replace those PeriumContact 2.
