Default KW v1 coilovers

Sent an email to KW today asking about coilovers for the CR-Z.

I must say they answer quickly!

I might have to go with the Buddy Clubs since they keep their preloads while the KW is lowered by the spring and perch thus losing your shock travel.

How does this impact performance? The way it look now, KW is the only coilover kit that I can legally use here due to the TÜV papers being required.

If you have a coilover that is not height and preload independent when you lower the car you compress the springs. When you go over bumps or turn etc. the springs are already partially compressed and then have less room for compression which can ruin the handling depending on how low you go. Hope that makes sense.

Usually height and preload adjustment is limited to pricier coilovers. I think the V2's from KW are independent. Overall the BuddyClubs are JDM quality, monotube, height and preload adjustable and well priced. Sucks that its not a TUV approved kit. KW is known for having quality dampers and springs. if you dont plan to slam the car it may not make a huge difference if you get the KWs

I plan on keeping the height close to stock, so it will probably not be an issue for me then. I just want to improve handling for auto slalom next season. That is if I get put in the mod class anyway, I may as well go all the way on suspension mods. Too bad KW don't have a v2 for the CR-Z yet though.

@varg

Isn't the K-Sport coilover TÜV approved, too? I would go for the K-Sport instead of the KW.

Seems that some of them are. In the manual for the CR-Z coilovers it says "off road use only", but I think I will contact them asking about the TÜV papers.

I'd go KW over KSport even with the KW limitations.
