Default Going to do it - Eibach Springs and Rear Spacers

Just talked to my local Speed shop

Welcome

Going to goahead and use the Eibach Pro Kit for the CR-Z

Eibach Springs : EPS Application Look-up | suspensions | springs | dampers | stabilizers | shocks | sway bars | anti-roll bars | wheel spacer | coil over | engine valves

Since I also got (and paid for) the 17" factory rims and not really wanting to spend 3-4K on replacing rims and rubber at this time, spent a bit of time with the maxrpm guys talking about using a hub centric spacer for the rear to bring it flush. Of course they would rather sell me rims and tires, but they gave me plenty of examples of the use of spacers with no ill effects/problems. Guestimate on mine was was taking it out maybe 20mm. We kind of talked at length about why the tire retailers and others really ditch spacers to include hubcentrics, but most are in the business of selling rims/tires to bring things flush. That is where the money is at.

If your racing and doing things that really push the limits of your car, then spacers are not your best choice. But, for something like the CR-Z under normal driving conditions and having a little fun in the corners, hubcentric spacers are fine and should have no problems. I am going to buy into it and see how it handles. If I don't like it, only out a few bucks. Once I get it done, will post pics. Maybe this month.

They seemed impressed and kind of excited to get their hands on a CR-Z. We'll see.

Scotty, can you give us some of your thoughts on why you chose the Eibach springs over the others, e.g. Swift? Just wondering what factors you considered.

Many thanks,
G

Hey Scotty,

CorSport is supposed to install my Eibach springs on New Years Eve day. Looking forward to it!

What size wheels and tires are you running?

I am on the stock rims right now (winter tires) but normally run 17x7 48 offsets (about the same as they have on the Eibach CR-Z racer) with 225 / 45 ZR17 tires. I am thinking this will fit with no issues... we will see...

moved to suspension forum

if you haven't bought them already... not to take anything away from the guy you spoke with at your local place b/c i'm sure he gave you some great info and you might feel obligated to buying from him... but IMHO i'd say contact Tai with CorSport, our site sponsor, and at the very least see if their prices are lower... and if they aren't see if they're willing to price match... like i said, you might feel obligated to buy from the local guy b/c of the info he gave you, but again IMHO, i think supporting the site and our sponsors is the way to go... btw, i don't get paid for being a mod or promoting CorSport... being a business owner myself, i just think it's right to do business with people you know/trust...

in either case, keep us updated!!!

Yea, I see they have them for 230.

I'll make sure the speed shop buys from them or I will. Just giving the local shop the business of installing. Will let them best advise me on hub centric spacers for the rear wheels and purchase them. But will use corsport for the springs. Thanks. Fully agree with supporting the vendors here.

I have heard only positive comments on them. Am looking at keeping the ride comfortable with maybe a few improvements from lowering the center of gravity. Seems everyone else is still in development. Maybe I am impatient. Swift may come out with something that beats the Eibach. But, I am not a tuner. Look for the best form fit function for my amatuer purposes.

I have the optional factory 17" rims.

I'm thinking with a 48 offset, you will not have any issues.

^^ thanks for the support bizzybear.

Scotty001

We should have the cheapest prices on these shipped + no local sales tax and would love the business, let us know if we can help you in anyway.

I think these are taking about 2 weeks to get right now, keep that in mind also.
