Not ho-hum at all. I've been part of the iPod world for years, but it's always nice when someone finds this little treasure. I can "hear" the excitement in your voice.
Just a tip.....temperature change is bad. I see you are in PA so you have the same kind of weather that I do. When it's extremely hot, pull it out of the car. When it's extremely cold, pull it out of the car. It takes a while for it to come back to life in those kind of weather conditions. What one did you get? |

I believe iTunes' default is either 128 or 256 Kbps... maybe turning it up another notch or two would also increase the audio quality.
