Exclamation Auto Stop: Engine shuts itself off while stopped and in Gear. Help!

Since I have owned my CR-Z, when I have been at a stop light, stop sign, or just stopped in a driveway the engine shuts itself off very quickly and then turns itself back on right way. I am in gear! Doesn't matter if the clutch is pressed or released. And doesn't matter if I have my foot on the brake or not. It happens randomly, but not often. I have taken it into 2 separate dealers to have this inspected but everything checks out ok. I have no idea why my car has a mind of its own sometimes. Anyone else with this problem? or know what is going on?
I am presuming it is part of the Auto-stop feature, but I could be completely wrong. I know how to work the auto-stop feature, but there are times that the auto-stop has a mind of it's own. For instance, I had it auto-stopeed, and without me doing anything, my engine turned itself on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you're having a problem? This sounds normal to me. The crz will go into auto stop mode when you're car slows to a perceived stop first hitting around 15mph and below. It also only engages when the clutch is in. It doesn't matter if the gear is in 2-6 it will engage but if it senses an incline than it will restart the engine. Also autostop won't engage if you are in 1st gear. When the car is in autostop mode at a dead stop and you want to reengage the engine, you shift gear, press the clutch in all the way and the car will spring back to life.

Where you say with or without clutch and in gear doesn't make sense because if you are in gear and let off the clutch at a complete stop than you will stall out so that should be taken out of the equation.

Can you maybe take a video and share it with us?

Also the IMA battery level affects autostop. If the battery is low than it will come out of autostop.

I think I have similar issue, but never considered it a problem happens once or twice a week will engage autostop put it in FIRST and it seems like it didnt recognize so it will stay in autostop, course clutch in cuzidhit gas and realize no throttle response, all I do is take it out of gear and put it back in gear, never took it in dealership as it doesn't seem like a problem really, I just assumed it was related to the other issue of people have in regards with it not going in frst gear fully where the fix to that is just put it in another gear and it will go smoothly into first.

I suspect that because the autostop is influenced by so many dfferent readings and parameters it's easy for it to get 'confused'. Mine has also stopped and restarted at a stop sign for no apparent reason but I'm sure the system (sort of!) knows what it's doing.

Nothing to worry about I'd say!

I'm also having trouble identifying all the different factors which activates/deactivates the Auto-Stop. And your case doesn't seem like an unusual behaviour from where i stand.

Personally I never use the auto-stop. My town is mainly 'STOP' signs.
I disable it by simply selecting 'FRONT', for defroster on the right pod, turn the A/C to OFF and adjust fan as desired.
It will stay in this mode forever until you change it or go 'AUTO'.

Any gear other than 1st or reverse will engage autostop.
If you are at a stop and you don't want auto stop to happen (I use it when it's cold out and blowing cold air because of autostop) just put your gear in reverse and neutral.
