Default engine lifter noise

I picked up my used 2011 crz 6mt a week a go with 13000 miles. this morning I noticed a ticking sound coming from under the hood at idle. I opened the hood and was surprised to hear a rather loud lifter type noise. Is this normal or should I have it checked out?

Also the check TPMS system has been coming on since day 1. I checked all tire pressures including the spare- which was low. Alert message still comes on. I made appt. for next sat. at the dealer. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Tim

It is common for the rockers to be noisey in Honda's. This discussion was brought up long time ago about irregular noise under the hood, just to find out it was a regular noise by fact.

For the TPMS sensor deal... How is the weather? Is it a cold drop in morning then warms up and is your tire pressure right near the minimum pressure for the tires??? What is the pressure set at in your tires???

Although I bow to the Honda experience of members like Tbot, I would still take it in. At least for your own peace of mind, and lest it be a harbinger of future problems, at least the noise is documented.

As for the TPMS, again not my strong point, but if it is on continually (not just when cold, for instance), then perhaps one of the sensors is defective or needs to be re-acquaited with the computer. Again, shouldn't be the case in a new car, so get it looked after.

OK - I re-read your post, and it is used, but 13K is not enough use to lessen your expectations of getting a vehicle in excellent shape, with full warranty still in effect.

Get it looked after, and drive away happy.

Yes, have it all checked.

I also noticed a louder than normal (by Honda standards IMO) ticking from under the hood, but I only hear it when I am outside of the car which is rare- I don't like to have the car running unless I am ready to go. Will be interested to hear what Honda has to say about yours.

Honda should do free Diagnostic checks regardless and since you are bringing it in for TPMS sensors, I am sure the questions will fly. Without a video about how loud the ticking really is, it is hard to justify whether or not it is normal. Some people might not think it is loud compared to others. Video would be best if you can ^.^
