How do you restore the system back fresh/blank? Taking back to the dealer isn't really an option, as I bought it yesturday from an out of state dealer and I'm driving home tomorrow and the dealer is closed tomorrow... |

Here is a link on how to go to Diagnostics which provides the ability to do a ECU clear. But may want to do a little more research looks like it may do a little more than just delete the phone book.
http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/ac...3_navi_man.pdf I went through the motions on mine and the instructions are pretty accurate - with the exception of actually clearing. BTW, you do not have to return to your original dealer, you can use any Honda Service department closest to you. |

Ok, thanks man! I'll try that in the morning. I already tried pulling the fuse and was surprised that didn't work. I didn't want to pull the battery cable, as I'm not sure if that is a good idea on a hybrid.
I don't care what it takes. Not like I anything in there to loose. As far as the dealer, I'd be afraid another dealer might charge to do it since it isn't really a warranty issue. My previous experience with Honda dealers have been pretty poor. |

Don't pull the battery cable unless you have the codes for the radio and the navi. Secondly, you might eject the navi cd and reinstall although that might not work; can't be certain.

Sorry you having problems. Had a similar thing when bought our car as it had been used as a demo and had the dealers employee phonebook in it. I followed the instructions and deleted that and imported my wifes phonebook. Being a fully paid up Luddite I was rather proud of myself! LOL.
Seriously though, agree try your local Honda dealer I find it helps in these situations to mention that you will of course be bringing the Z to them for servicing repairs etc. Good luck. |

On a side note: A good object lesson if you sale your car (or any car) with your or others personal information in it, i.e., personal phone numbers, addresses etc. Appears clearing it is not part of the Standard Operating Procedure when prepping a used car for sale at the dealerships.

Great.. and most welcome.. Thanks for trying it out.. Good info for the Forum.. Assumption is it not only cleared out the phone numbers, but also any names, addresses etc associated with saved NAVI objects etc.. As alluded to previously, a good thing to do if you sale your ride - especially if you programmed your "go home" feature..
