Default Rear defroster problem..?

I don't think the rear defroster is working correctly. Not sure why there is gap between the two sections, but the top section on mine isn't working. See this picture.

Anyone else have this issue?

I believe the Top section is the Radio Antenna? at least it's designed that way on older cars... I thought the radio antenna was in the shark fin though... hmm...

Pretty sure the Shark fin is for the AM/FM only. The XM is in the cabin if you have it.

Others have had questions on the rear defroster and having the same issue. Here is a link to a thread here on the subject.

So I just checked the service manual and what your seeing for the rear defogger is correct and functioning the way it was designed. Those wires on top of the rear glass is the "Rear Antenna Ground". Here's the description - "the rear antenna ground eliminates electro magnetic waves from the battery module to prevent noise in the AM/FM radio, and does not have a defogger function."

As stated earlier the sharkfin is the actual AM/FM antenna.
