Default Caught the Curse..

Driving down the NJ Turnpike on Wednesday night..

BLAM! Wow that was some kind of pothole...

Pull through the toll booth.. starting gunning it to get up to highway speed...

Tire pressure light comes on.

Happened to be right near a rest stop, so I pulled in. Yep, flat as a pancake. Hole in the sidewall. So I'm driving on the donut for now..

Anyone have any experience with this? 7500 miles on the car, I would think the tire warranty should cover this..

nope. Its wear and tear. its not the tire company's fault you drove over a pothole. it would be the tire company's fault if you were driving along and the tire randomly just blew out or the tread separated but i think you are SOL. Probably should watch where you drive a little more carefully. i watch the road like a hawk when i drive.

You COULD try going after the city if you are a real cheap. But Most cities are hard to deal with on occasions like this. You have to photograph and document the history of the pothole for something like the 3 months before they will pay out in some cases.

Your best bet IMO is to just say you dont know how it happened and hope there wasnt any serious damage to the rim that makes it obvious what happened.

yeah cuz you know, scamming is an honest way to go about your life. Whats a new tire? 90 bucks? You're really going to try to scam someone for a 90 dollar tire?

it costs me almost 50$ to fill my CRZ, should i go around stealing gas or trying to defraud the gas stations because they charge too much?

Cars cost money, its called maintenance. If you don't like it, don't have a car.

Not looking to scam anyone. Just seems to me that no pothole on a major 8-lane highway should be enough to blow out what's basically a new tire. Guy that changed it was amazed how little wear was on the treads. He's like "Wow, this is a new tire", and I'm like "It's a new car!"

Dealer doesn't even have them. Getting one for $150 installed on Monday at a local shop.

When I got a flat, I had to order from Tire Rack...no place near me had the tire, dealer included. What killed me is that I had to pay 110 or so for a poor performing tire...

S*** happens. Found my Crz one morning with a flat. noticed a nail going right thru the tread. Put the spare, drove over to a local shop and got it fixed for 20$ but thats not the worst that has happened to my car

sorry to hear about your troubles Dude...

guess I can count myself fortunate... my auto club will pay a road hazard on all the tires on any car that I'm driving... basically they'll pay to fix a flat if I hit anything in the road.

I've used this feature a couple of times.... I just wish they'd pay for hitting the curb on the side of the road... got a couple of dinged up rims on my truck due to not paying attention...

How much tire pressure did you have prior to the pothole?
