I was on the 134 East for 90 seconds tops, in a backed up right lane, dead stopped. I heard a terrible noise behind me and looked up to see a huge Ford grill headed right for me. A sedan rear ended an F-150, which rear ended me, which caused me to tap another car with a PREGNANT driver. The sedan was a total loss. Car number four has a scuffed bumper and the F-150 driver said that the only thing wrong with his truck was that the glove box popped open and wouldn't close!! As for the CR-Z..... the front grill is cracked in two places with a scuff; the rear bumper is dented, scuffed and shifted right about 1/2", the diffuser is almost hanging off the bumper, the hatch has a pretty big dent and the hard plastic around the hatch seal is misaligned. It looks as if the CR-Z didn't hold up too well... but I have to remember I was hit by a pickup hard enough to still have a sore neck and a knot on my head where my hair clip slammed into the headrest. (Actually, the funniest part was when my hair clip hit so hard on the headrest that my hair exploded out of the clip like a small bomb went off!) Still can't figure out how one tiny car did so much damage in a crawling lane of traffic. Insurance is going to take a look on Thursday. Then I guess I'll say goodbye for three weeks while they fix it. Really sucks driving her looking so messed up- not a good ambassador looking like it does. I need a bumper sticker that says, "Honk if anything falls off." AND I hadn't even driven her three months yet!!!!!!! On a positive note- I hadn't yet installed the upgraded rear diffuser. And the body shop can maybe address some dealer-inflicted swirls in the paint. Last edited by josbo001; 12-12-2011 at 03:01 AM. Reason: title update |

Dang, We CRZ owners are getting beat up. I am happy it was not worse.
You still have a sense of humor "Honk if anything falls off" Thats great. If you were going to upgrade to the Honda diffuser like I have now would be a good time I bet there is not much of a price difference from the stock one. I would talk to the body shop they may help you out. Just my thoughts. |

Really sorry to hear about your accident, but glad you weren't seriously hurt.
Its amazing, the chain reaction that even a slow-speed collision can cause. Hope you are back on the road again, with no parts threatening to abandon ship, very soon!

Hopefully the driver infront of you won't come after you for money...
If I recall correctly, in a 3 vehicle collision, A hits B from behind, B is sandwiched between A and C, and C's bumper is damaged, A is 75% responsible, B is 25%, C is not at fault. I'm guessing in this one, D being the car you hit, A is 75% B is 12.5%, C (you) is 12.5%, D is not at fault... Correct me if I'm wrong ![]() Most certainly, I would get their insurance companies to pay for it. 3 weeks is a bit excessive, a week should suffice, considering that all must be replaced are two bumpers, and putty to cover the dents and scrapes. Its so much easier eh @CR-Z_Canadian with Ontario No Fault insurance, you call your company and they fix your car right away and fight on your behalf to collect their money again, unlike most other provinces and states where you fight for your rights and you recuperate your money.... |
