When I first went to take delivery, the dealer told me they found some spots in the clear coat when detailing the car and had to send it to the body shop for a day. So I picked it up a couple days later and all was well. After a week I noticed the spots on the clear coat showing thru on the hood again, so I took it back, and back to the body shop it went. While it was there, I had them take it to get the windows tinted. I picked it up and did not notice anything right away. A couple days later I am looking out the driver's side window and notice a bunch of scratches figuring it was the window film. I took it to the place that did the tint job, and they point out that the scratches are actually on the outside, in the glass. Pretty frustrated at this point, I head back to the dealership to show them. They agree that the scratches weren't there at delivery and they will pay for me to have them buffed out. While inspecting the scratches, we also notice the frame/trim just above the window has been gouged and there is a chunk missing. I must have not noticed because my car has been dirty since I picked it up. The dealership is not taking responsibility for this damage, even though I am positive I did not inflict it. It wasnt there when I dropped it off with them, and I am sure it happened while in their possession. After I got a bit heated with them, the manager agreed to "see what he can do on the price" and give me a call later. If they wont fix it Ill either have to find that part and do it myself, or install some window visors. All I want is to have a car that actually feels and looks like a new car... but its just been one thing after another. I did not have any such problems with my last CRZ. Do you think its just an incompetent dealership, or am I having bad luck?

I'd put the scratches and trim problem on the dealership/tint shop. My dealership serviced my car and parked it outside. Idiot who drove it left the window open while it was raining the whole day.. My door and half the driver seat were soaked. So it may be your dealership..

When I first got my Z I didn't notice anything wrong..
But after the first day (I got it at night) I inspected it and noticed a few things. 1. The driver side mirror had a ripple in it.. 2. The trim near the passenger side wiper was cut up 3. The interior where the key goes was all scratched up 4. Weatherstripping was messed up.. They fixed it all in 2 weeks (had to wait for delivery of parts) :/

wow you should just quit buying cars and take the bus. Sounds like you'd have more luck that way.
Sorry to hear about another screwing with this new car. It sucks when you spend that much time at the dealer, they get to know you by name. Thats not a good sign. Ive been there, done that.

the only issue i had when i purchased my car was two indents on the roof just above the windshield. the dealership noticed them when they were detailing the car. they came over to me and said, "we have some bad news. there are two dents in the roof". I thought they were being sarcastic so I laughed it off. it wasn't until they physically showed me the dents that i realized what they were saying was the truth. needless to say, two weeks later i had my car. throughout the two week period, they provided me with a lender which, shhhh, i abused. about three weeks after they fixed the dents, i noticed two small grease stains on my headliner from when they were repairing the dents. i took it back to the dealer and they stated that if they can't clean it they will replace the entire head liner for free. a couple of weeks ago, the interior trim piece that sits right behind the driver's side window popped off and shot across the cabin when i closed the door one day. the nipple was clearly broken off. i took it back to the dealer, they honored the warranty and replaced it free of charge. the dealer i purchased my cr-z at is very reputable and they do go above and beyond for their customers.

Sounds like everyone has had very mixed experiences with their dealers... Everyone at my dealership knows me by name, what car I drive, and who my salesman is. Ive had a loaner car almost as much time as Ive had my CRZ.
The window repairman came to look at the damage today, said it looked like razor marks from where they cut window film peices hanging over the top of the door. They are deep enough scratches that hed have to sand down quite a bit to get them out, which could leave visible fading. Other than that theyll have to replace the window. Hes calling my dealer to talk to them about it. Im pretty upset and I want a new window. I also forgot to mention another time I took the car in, day after delivery, because it had a bad vibration at 60+ so I had to get the wheels balanced. So this is the fourth time Im getting it fixed.

Oh and the window guy said there was something on the window they used to try to cover up or buff out the scratches, so they knew it had happened then lied about it. Most likely the tint shop.

Dealerships don't volunteer to fix cosmetic issues. So "sending it to the bodyshop to fix waterspots" sounds incredibly suspicious and most likely a euphemism. I have a feeling the vehicle was cosmetically damaged by someone from the dealership. Most likely a lot guy, detail guy while parking it.
