Default Amazed

So, I just got back from a three day business trip up to the Meadowlands area (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ). The trip one way was approx 140 miles from my house and I was shocked to get there and back on a 1/2 tank of gas. I was in normal mode and averaged 40.3 MPG's which, for me, is unheard of territory.

Additionally, I was shocked by how comfortable I was for the 2.5 hour drive. Not exactly cross country, but I typically get annoyed if I'm driving over 1.5 hours, this go round it seemed easy and I still can't get over how much room this car has.

Just figured I'd share as it was a complete suprise to me that this car would do so well.

Well, yeah, it's much more comfortable when you drive with your pants off.

My windows are tinted 15% so I was full blown naked.

Nice! I average 40 in mixed 50/50 city/hwy. I would guesstimate its possible to hit 45+ MPG on the hwy alone.

CVT or 6MT?
I find my (CVT) mileage is actually much better in the city - getting the car up to highway (rural 2-lane, with the occasional traffic light or stop sign) speeds seems to drop my real world economy. Or does my hamster need to see the vet?

Has hopefully invested in a set of seat covers.. - eh - and a good radar detector.

I have driven mine from Tallahassee Florida to West Palm Beach. Its about a 6 hr drive and myself and the wife were very comfortable. If I remember right I averaged 36mpg that trip.

I just turned 18,000 miles in 10 months and I have a take home car at work.

I'll be heading 6.5 hours south this weekend, and I'm looking forward to the drive both ways, filling up only before leaving each end. 90% interstate driving... I usually get 40MPG for my normal driving... hoping to see a little more than that, but even if I don't, I'll be happy knowing that it's not the 20MPG I got with my Jeep on this trip earlier this year!
