I just went with my friend to buy a new Prius, and when they delivered the vehicle to him, they connected his blue tooth. The cool thing though once his Iphone was paired to the Prius, he was able to play his Iphone mp3's through the blue tooth. I went to my CRZ and tried the same thing, but didn't work, but I have a Droid. Has anyone with an Iphone here tried that before? Or is that just a Prius thing? |

I've tried it before, it does not work unfortunately. It just depends on the type of Bluetooth chip used in the vehicle.

Nope, the CR-Z's factory bluetooth won't support the A2DP hi-bitrate stereo-audio protocol. It only supports the lesser-quality protocol to stream voice for calls.
My solution: (I eventually hard-wired the dongle behind my dash so it's not even visible) http://www.crzforum.com/forum/61440-post5.html |

I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate phone and bought the Blackberry Music Gateway to enable my phone to connect via A2DP with the car stereo.
It works amazing and I not only listen to music from the phone but most times I prefer to stream online radio. Just get any A2DP device that connects your phone to the stereo but the Blackberry device seems to be working with a lot of phones. PS. I do not power the Blackberry bluetooth dongle from the USB port on the stereo like in the thread linked above, I use a car charger that has two USB cables (one for the phone, one for the Bluetooth dongle). The USB port on the stereo is reserved for the USB key that I use when I do not stream online radio. Last edited by CRZ-Silver; 09-07-2011 at 02:29 PM. Reason: forgot mention how I power the Bluetooth dongle |

My short term solution has been to use this little device. Seems to pair with most A2DP phones.

I had the Parrot MKi9100 bluetooth kit I installed in my Smart Car. It's a unit that plugs in between the radio and the speakers. This makes it so if you're listening to the radio it can cut it off and play bluetooth through the speakers. This works great if you're using your phone for turn-by-turn directions because it will mute the radio, you'll hear the directions, and then the radio comes back on. I've been thinking about installing a parrot in my CR-Z but it has a separate display and remote which I don't want to mess with. |

Wait, how? ... I also have one of these and it will not stream music through the stock HFL bluetooth system.
