Everything is still there except my USB key for the stereo. My garage opener was there and they didnt even use it. I have a bunch of tools and stuff in there... Anyways not so bad that all they took was a 20$ item. The reason i named this thread like this is because there are no marks or broken glass on the car so leaving it unlocked by accident seems to be the only way i can think of that this happened. What gets me too is the fact this is in my freakin driveway... Well just needed to vent so i could actually go to sleep now. Sent from my Liquid using Tapatalk |

Can happen and does. Not too long ago, thieves made a pass through the cluster (37 townhomes): Cluster is a Reston association name for townhome groups. We are fairly secluded with little traffic; only one entry way. Only two garages in the cluster; cars are in the driveway or street.
A number of unlocked cars were stripped of stereo systems, glove box contents, etc. No vehicles were vandalized. In this economy? A moment of distraction can cost. Ours, locked, were not touched. And our driveway is well lighted with low-voltage fixtures; feel that can be a small deterrent.

the exact same thing happened to me, i like to think that i had locked my doors, but it doesn't make sense otherwise because no damage was done, other than all my stuff was greasy... except they took only my iPod usb cable, (no iPod in the car) and my (stock) shift knob... they didn't take my mugen shift knob which i had installed earlier that afternoon, and the stocky was in the glove box. along with the box and receipt for the mugen...
i had my sunglasses, money, and other potentially valuable things in the car, car keys for other cars in our parking lot etc... let's hope these are two isolated incidents and not certain people who magically open peoples doors

I think it would be smart for the CR Z to have, along with all it's other options, to lock the car automatically after a certain period of time, or if the receiver isn't in the proximity of the car.
But that means that the receiver would need a bluetooth chip, along with, again, a reprogrammed system. |

More than likely you just forgot to press the lock button on the key.
However, eight years ago, with my ’02 Si, I kept noticing that the passenger door was unlocked. Upon further investigation I found that the electric locking mech inside the door had failed. This was fixed, and then several months later the driver’s side failed. |

Sorry to hear you got broken into.
We had a strange incident last month like that where all the Honda Odyssey on the block got broken into, but no broken glass, door locks were intact and no external issues. Only took loose items (although missed the bluetooth headset) in every vehicle. My cr-z was parked nearby but it wasn't touched. Well at least they just made a mess and didn't do any damage to your vehicle. -Hoi

Thieves have scanners which will pick up the lock code if you lock using the remote.
If you double lock using the key they can't get the code so try using the key instead of the remote.

^ lol my friend has a remote starter app on his phone and he can start the car using it. so who knows there might be a unlock my car app...
anyways ima stop at best buy later and buy a new USB key cus i can't go on without my TUNES... went and checked again now that i'm more awake and ya there is no mark on the car and nothing was taken from my garage so they didn't use the opener. I do have giant spot lights that are motion activated and pointed at my driveway but apparently that's not a deterrent. makes me want to install some mini cameras though but i have no idea where to get some. (i'd like them small-ish) Something that can record on motion and save it on the web? or something like that. Preferably no wires. EDIT: lol i drove all the way to best buy to realize it was closed for Labor Day. totally forgot... |
