I've come across this car through my journey of the forums, and it caught my eye. Yet, another treasure Ford will decided to shun from North America.

...and, I think, would be a good competitor against the CR-Z, though not a hybrid.

The Ford Puma Concept:

I found this:

Honda CR-Z Design And Development Processes Described In New Video | The Motor Report: Auto News And Reviews

Honda hit and missed if it targeted against these vehicles. If going by Dragons estimates of (who sounds like a credible source being in management for Honda) 30K estimate for CRZ in the U.S.

1. The MINI. I have owned a MINI Cooper S. With sport and Premium packages out the door was about 28K before the JCW upgrade. The only bit that the CRZ beats the MINI is reliability and just a few MPG's.

2. Lotus. I think the CRZ beats this one pretty much all the way around.

3. Scirocco. I can't comment because we don't have them here in the states, but it is good looking.

From this forum

1. GTI. Consumer Reports has given the GTI "Best buy" for this year. Although I am not a fan of there dated interior it is still cheaper, faster, better handling and more practical if the 30K price tag is true for the CRZ.

Future variants coming.

1. The European version of the Focus due out in 2011. Cheaper than the 30K + a turbo.

2. Chevy is due out with the concepts seen in the movie Transformers 2011/ 2012 and if fuel mileage and emissions are your concern over performance, the Volt will only cost 5K more with nearly eight times the mileage and near absolute zero emissions.

3. Fiat 500 Abarth

Other current vehicles

1. Suzuki SX4.
2. Miata MX5.
3. Mazda 3 and 3 Speed.
4. Civic SI.
5. Corolla Hybrid.
6. Tiburon.

Granted the CRZ gets better gas mileage than just about all of these cars but if you save 3K- 4K on a variant thats a whole lot of gas considering the MPG are not that much lower. If Honda can keep the CRZ base at 20K or less and a "SI" base version under 25K I think the CRZ will indeed be a very strong contender. Anymore than that- it wont make it.
