Default Oil Change, special oil for hybrid?o.O

okay im a noob about these stuff and i wanted to ask any members about their oilchange.
This is my first time to get my oilchange done for a "hybrid". and my car just got a light for A1, so i took it to a Honda Dealership.
Is it true that hybrids use a special oil compared to any NONhybrid honda cars? o.O
The dealer told me i had to pay $35 + $15 extra for a special oil and another $79.99 for minor service (+tax).

That's insane, just grab mobile 1 0-20 from pepboys or autozone and a oem oil filter from Honda for 8$ and do it yourself. You'll spend no more than 40$

Yes, the oil is special for hybrids and yes you can find cheaper places than the dealer.

i guess i'll just buy my own mobil1 0w20 as JCRZ. and get it done at my local shop, i think it will be a hassle for me to change it myself. im not very good at those. hahaha

My Honda dealer charges 40 for the express oil change. I bought the oil and filter once for the Civic hybrid and saved about dollar. After that I brought it in. I'm not changing the oil for a dollar. The express oil change also get you now wiper blades if you need them for that price.

After buying the oil and filter your probably better off just having the dealer do it. Just the few extra $$ for convience factor is worth it. This oil is more than your regular oil unless your buying it in drum. The honda dealer where I got my CRZ usually charge $30 for regular and another 10-12 i think for Hybrids.

@dfried&Hellionz. you guys are both correct; however i seriously hate the dealership when they give me this "disrespectful look to the customer" if i dont do their minor service etc. they start being a douche...

they expect me to pay their 79.99 minor service, for just inspections to walk around my car with their flashlights....=,.=

anyways problem solved, i found a shop that has a 5star review(100+reviews) rating on yelp that quoted $40-50 mobil1 synthetic oil change w. inspection :] win! + their "print out 10% discount coupon" !!

Where did you get this from??? Check page 247 of owners manual. Doesn't look special to me.

Just use whatever oil the owner manual suggests. It shouldn't be any special. Yes, it is a hybrid but at the same time it has a regular Honda I4 engine, not an atkinson cycle engine.
To me, it's a total BS for dealer to charge more for oil change unless they use synthetic oil. However, synthetic oil is still not necessary.
