Review from New Zealand.

CR-Z Brings Back the Fun

Quote:
So the good news is that, despite its diminutive size, this CR-Z can be used as a normal car, albeit in essence a two-seater one.

But this Honda is actually a lot more than that. I loved it, and it immediately takes its place high up in my list of lovely little sporty cars that I've driven – alongside cars such as Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo, Mazda MX-5 and Toyota MR2.

And that's high praise indeed.

I didn't see this previously posted, although I probably missed it:
Mini Cooper vs Scion TC vs Honda CR-Z EX vs Volkswagen Beetle vs Hyundai Veloster vs Fiat 500 Comparison- Motor Trend

The CR-Z fared better than the testers expected (DUH), and it seems like a fair evaluation of most of the cars. The Mini wins, but based on some of the experiences I've read from Mini owners, long-term reliability and cost of ownership would probably put the Honda on top. But, then again, so would a more powerful engine. The difference is, one is a reality, the other a pipe dream.

One of the cars I shopped for was the Mini, before alighting on the CR-Z. The cost of ownership and reported reliability problems were a big factor. I have a car that, I reckon, is 90% or more of the fun of a mini, but with the Honda reputation for reliability, and cheaper maintenance costs. Oh, and a dealer service shop that is closer than 300 miles away.
