Couldn't agree more!
But, I used to play online first person shooters.. very violent games! (Battlefield 1942 was the one that hooked me, and then Counter Strike) And, some of those game servers would censor or kick you for cussing. And that is something that completely shocked me and I honestly still can not understand! We were there violently killing each other, but throwing down an oh sh.... when you get hit would get you in trouble. Getting an adrenaline high by plotting and methodically figuring out how to be a better killer is A OK, but god forbid you let loose a 4 letter word.

It is what it is.. With such a relatively small population of us CR-Z owners and 6700 members who have stopped by and/or have stayed and with 1600 to 1700 users/visitors on line at any time, this well moderated forum is a great place for everyone who owns or is interested in a CR-Z. But for the hard core, there are alternatives. Here are a couple..

Here is one with 270 Something Members. Averages about 2 members on line at any given time.
CR-Z Craze - Index - Honda CR-Z Sporty Hybrid Car Forums

Here is one with about the same number of members for the more serious tuners out there.
Honda CRZ Forum: Honda CR-Z Forums

For this Forum it is about keeping things enjoyable for everyone, not just the few who feel the need to throw around what can be considered by many as objectionable language. Thus far, seems to be a relatively successful formula.

And please, I am a retired Navy Chief. Been to many countries in the Pac, Med, South America, etc. More countries than I remember without going through the photo album. No saint here.. Far from it. I contain my colorful linguistics for those around me who appreciate it.. Usually at home with like minded friends or a friends home with whom it is acceptable, not in public forums/places where it may not be. Maybe just a maturity thing, I dunno.

But again, its about keeping this forum a welcoming place for everyone... And yes, we mods do get complaints and reported posts and for the most part do not discount them.

It's all good everyone.. Just enjoy the forum for what it is, keep things PG or so and enjoy.. A great place...

Your right Tin Tin we are supposed be adults here and I agree with you. I also am on many car forums as well from numerous new and classic Mini's/ MINI's, Fiat 500 and CR-Z. A couple of those I am also a moderator.

Being an adult means being respectful of others, be mature about situations, and have a good time. Yes I like to joke around take some things off subject and debate once and awhile but if things start turning ugly like "Thug this bit^h" it is time to end it. That is not being adult. As you say over moderation will kill a forum and I will agree to that. I am a member of one sight that if the topic is not straight up about VTEC Mini's your posts are deleted and you are given an infraction. That site is a ghost town. Same holds true if you have profanity all over the place, bullies, to much clowning around, lewd pictures (some pictures have had to be changed on this site- ask Code85) and what not. As Scotty pointed out- this site is very highly successful compared to the number of actual CR-Z owners and other CR-Z sites because of its content of valuable information and how it is moderated. With the size that it is you have a diverse amount of personalities and there is times they will clash. Being adult means being tolerant and understanding of that fact and not to "thug" on someone right off the bat.

Also like Scotty said- it is what it is. If you have issues with it there are other CR-Z forums out there you might be happier with or you can start your own.

I've moderated some forums... been an admin for others... every forum has always had at least the swear filter turned on, with the basic common swear words in it. There's no place for blatent use of vulgarity on most forums... and people know how to get around it anyway (i.e. symbol replacement), when making posts in off-topic or non-public areas.

As for moderation... having a few people to keep the forums clean, keep people on-topic, move posts to their appropriate locations, and whatnot are also the norm. As long as the mods aren't overbearing or super-anal, there usually aren't problems between the users and the mods.

Having only been coming here for about 3 months now, the mods here seem like good folks. So do the people posting here. I haven't seen any crazy expletive-laden rants, or repeated intentionally off-topic posts (every topic may strike up a possibly unrelated side-topic, but nothing here seems intended to derail the original discussion). I don't read ALL of the forums all the time, but for those that I do read regularly, everything seems well run here!

Kudos to the mods for making it a great place for all of us!
