so the people to whom the CR-Z is PERFECT for like myself should get shafted and just buy whatever else is out there on the market even though it doesn't suit me at all... just so a company maximize it's profits?
stupid reason. I even wouldn't mind if they made them On-Order only as they'd still be offering them to those who really want them. Sure Niches won't be big sellers but there are people out there with specific needs and they have the right to have those needs met too

The S2000 didn't contribute a whole lot of sales, either. That's not the point of some cars. While I hesitate to say the CR-Z was a halo vehicle in the same vein as the S2K, our Zeds were added to the US lineup with the expectation that it would be a niche car. It's a car with some passion in the design.
This guy refers to the top five sellers as the bread and butter of Honda products. Well, without cars that speak to emotional values, Honda's brand image becomes as exciting a bread and butter is to eat. |

That guy actually seems to be a little clueless on some of the models that he says Honda shouldn't bother with. There is a reason the Fit, FCX, Insight and our beloved CR-Z are in Honda's lineup. Has this guy heard of CAFE? They all bring Honda's average MPG up. At least this is what I think (and I could be completely off base).

I kinda knew this would happen when I bought my CR-Z two weeks ago. The CR-Z is a niche car, for people like us. I'm a college student that drives ~40 miles to Chicago everyday and back. It's only me in the car - so it's perfect for me.
But I can see how this car won't do so well to the general public. Nevertheless, that means a rare, niche, limited supply of CR-Z's would be in the market. Better for us! |
