With that said; "Yes" the first picture is all in SPORT mode.

So from the start to up the hill, I lost 2.6MPG average but gained all back coming downhill with mixtures of different mode.

The car handle rather well in ECON mode coming down hill. Forgot to take the corner using SPORT mode. But it handle itself well uphill with all the twists and turns.

Now if we have a little more HP under the hood it would be more exhilarating. Hence, turbo charge this baby. But as stock vehicle goes, this is a fun vehicle. Switch from Sport to Econ for fuel economy which ever you desire.
I guess what I am asking is this: This would be a commuter car. I drive 40 miles in each direction on flat central California valley ground on two lane and interstate roads and highways with the exception of 1 1/12 miles of hilly switch backs. I am just trying to figure out MPGs with picture proof to support my story to the Missus. I think mostly I would be in ECON mode and hit SPORT through the switch backs.

If, during econ you had it in cruise (not sure if you're able to on the commute), you'll see 40-45ish, if not higher. Same if you have a sensitive foot, lower if it's stop and go.

I know that's not picture proof, but it's my real world experience. And I drive my car pretty spiritedly.

VTEC Mini, I think you will do well in central California. Get up to speed quickly and coast will be your best bet and I am sure you will get better than 40 MPG. As Shatner and I drive pretty spirited, we are doing pretty well on MPG.

I am currently at around 650 miles mark and using normal mode more often now or driving more conservatively and getting better than 40 MPG avg. Of course just started the conservative side. My engine has yet to completely break in so I will be switching to sport mode every now and then. Hope that help.

I definitely will be spirited in the switch backs! It is good to know though on the flats it will be better than advertised MPGs in ECON or even NORMAL for that sake..
