the last 8 digits are computer generated at the time the vehicle is configured, but will not necessarily be in order of actual production.

for example, 002346 might be built before 002339 and even may be built on a different day. depending on manufacturer, the sequence may continue from year to year or may start over, which is apparently the case with the CRZ. this explains why there are very low sequence numbered 2012's.

this is common with all car manufacturers.
