My CarPC has achieved first boot!!!
![]() I spent a lot of time this weekend finalizing all the last little bits and pieces, making sure the wires were hooked up correctly, etc. I had wired the reverse camera's power backwards, the HDMI connector had come loose, and the case for the PC was too big too fit, just to name a few issues I ran into. As promised, here is a series of videos that I've uploaded to show the progression of the work. If you just want to see it in operation, jump to part 8: Part 1 - New back seat Part 2 - CR-Z CarPC Dash Part 3 - Harnesses Part 4 - Cable harnesses in place Part 5 - Power Control Module - Bench Testing Part 6 - Main wiring finished! Part 7 - Power Control Module - All done! Part 8 - First boot! |

Got my order in from BatchPCB today!! It's -insanely- better than trying to hand wire things. In literally 20 minutes I had the whole thing soldered together, and all features are working except for the rotary encoder.
accelerometer - working, with 'transient event detection' compass - working 2 buttons with LEDs - working relay - working rotary encoder - rotation works, but the LED output is wrong and it isn't detecting button presses I had a couple things on the board sized incorrectly, but nothing that I couldn't bend a pin a bit and get to fit, and now that I have components placed I realize that some of my silk screens are covered up. Just your typical first-run issues. |

It was failing to recognize the button presses, so it wasn't scrolling through colors correctly. It's been fixed and now everything on the board is working!

I bought a thin rubber mat to place at the bottom of the floor, then placed the stock CRZ mat over that, and lastly another carpet cover. I want to keep this as clean as possible. Oh yeah, I filled up the tank (9.364 gallons) for the very first time after since I got this. I got 341 miles on the fill up from the dealership.
