Low Beams Too Low

Is there an easy way to adjust the factory levels of the low beams. I am only able to see about 1 & 1/2 car lengths in front of me. I feel that's not a safe viewing distance for dark winter nights in the south. There's no way to get advanced warning of the deer.

I just looked at mine, it might be real simple.
At the back of the headlight assembly there is a bolt that has a funny head shaped like a washer attached to it.
The front of the washer part has jagged edges. Probably to lock in each setting.
I'd bet that is the adjustment, probably a 10mm but I didn't check.
Turn on the lights with em facing a wall and see if they move up or down when you turn that bolt.

I've had to adjust headlights a lot of vehicles I've owned over the years but they seem fine on my CR-Z.

As for the high beams, I can only use those when there isn't any oncoming traffic.....I don't wanna be a d-bag and blind the shizz outta them.

It does seem there's something wrong. If its only shining a car length or two. I double checked mine on the way home tonight and its easily several car lengths in distance....pretty far actually. I cant gauge it well when I'm moving, but at a stand still, it goes all the way to the otherside of my jobs parking lot. And it's pretty big. I then thought yours def sounds off. You may want to swing by the dealership and have em check it out. If its out of wack, they will fix it for free and correctly . So you dont have to worry about messing with it yourself and trying to aim it right and such. You don't want to accidentally put too much pressure on those little adjustment tools and break something, especially with it probably being tightly spaced. I mean it's your car and you can do it yourself if you want. Power to you! But... what for? It's brand new, under warrenty. There's no reason why you should BS with it something that could be a factory misadjustment. Thats just what I would do. Good luck though!

I happen the share the OP's concern about the short range of the low beam HIDs. Because of the sharp cut off at the top of the beam, when you are going even the slightest bit downhill, the range of the lights is very short. I think some other cars have self leveling HIDs so that the lights don't end up pointing at the ground when you are driving downhill.

I was very excited about the HIDs when ordering my car, and it is a cleaner, clearer, brighter light. But the sharp cut off at the top makes them far less practical than the conventional lights on my other cars.

I'm with you on this. When filling out another CR-Z survey, I pointed out/gave low points about the cut off on the HIDs. It's very easy to "over drive" the headlights on twisting/hilly roads, especially on the left side. I understand why the cut off is there, but it just seems too low.

Have Honda check them, the car is under warranty.

I agree the low beams are disappointing, I just picked up my car yesterday afternoon, and took it out to see how the lights worked last night. The highs are o.k. but the lows suck. I hope it is just an adjustment issue. Also I just ordered some Sylvania Silverstars bulbs for the fog lights, maybe it will help.

My lows are fine and the high beams turn night into day for me.
