Dude, you are just throwing money away by running anything other than 87 octane in a stock CR-Z. Octane rating has nothing to do with the quality of fuel; it's only an indication of it's resistance to detonation. You only need it in higher compression engines or with forced induction. Higher octane makes it harder to light off and it actually contains less energy, although negligible, per gallon of pump gas. Run as low as you can without pinging.

Also, don't go out of your way for non-ethanol fuel, unless you are filling up a boat. Nothing wrong with ethanol in fuel and it will not harm your CR-Z in any way. You will get more mileage with non-ethanol, but almost always, the higher cost will offset the mileage gains by a good amount. The boat guys like it because ethanol can attract water vapor (hydrophillic) and water can slowly accumulate in their fuel tanks. Being that boats are surrounded by a marine evironment and spend more time sitting around than anything, this can become a problem for them. Don't run it unless you have a specific need to.

I am here in Germany with a rental CR-Z and took it on the autobahn yesterday. The weather was a bit nasty, with rain and temps a bit above freezing. The strecth of the autobahn I went on was slightly uphill, and I got the car to 175 km/h (108 mph), before I backed off because it was too damn scary in the rain. I was looking for the car's top speed and it led me to this thread here. Hopefully I'll get another run in better weather on a flat portion of the autobahn and see how fast it goes.

I am really enjoying the car, specially in Sport Mode. The area of Germany I am in is very rural and for the narrow, curvy farm roads in here this is a perfect car, very easy to drive. I was really looking forward to driving a CR-Z because I wanted to buy one, but now my wife is pregnant (it's all my fault...) so we need a car with four doors and a real back seat...

You clearly missed my video going 132 mph with a fully stock CR-Z

I will make another video in a few month with optimal weather conditions and a more even road, probably at night again because thats when the roads are empty.

Was that the one where the AC was inadvertently left on?
I am guessing the 6MT is the most common model in Germany.
Is that the one that got to 132 mph?

Yes 6MT and AC was left on, though it didn't work very hard.
My guess is 136 MPH should be possible, but i'm not on stock setup anymore.

Nope, I didn't miss it. Speedometers have been known to be off, especially at higher speeds. GPS confirmation would be a better choice for speed. I also doubt the A/C being on didn't matter either, because usually at WOT the A/C shuts off.
