just general Honda experience... Honda stopped using belts on their 4cylinder engines some time ago... and since they've been using chains they also use cam gears that self adjust... look at this picture of the K20 cams/gears the one on the left is the gear w/no adjustment... the one of the right adjusts automatically... since this is a single cam engine in the CR-Z... they obviously put only the side that adjusts automatically...

means change your oil and filters till 100k. after 100k you will need plugs, belts, etc. i recommend tranny oil changes *6spd* yearly. it's cheap and noticably smoother

Thanks - for getting me (and probably some others) up to date on Honda camshaft tech!

Just make sure whoever does your transmission fluid change (around 30k miles is what I have always seen) knows to use MANUAL transmission fluid and not automatic transmission fluid.

Back when I used Jiffy Lube still... they would come to me every time and tell me my transmission fluid needed to be changed because it was brown and not pink. That was because it was manual and not automatic. Then, when it was changed (can't remember by who) they put in automatic and not manual and that caused issues. Fortunately I went to someone with a clue and that got fixed before the car was destroyed.

Me too, so beat the piss out of it so if there is a weak link it will happen before the end of the warranty. and you can have fun doing it till you need to be towed to the shop.

of course the dealer wasn't happy, that's how they bleed their customers dry...

One thing about extended warranties that is good, is that if you sell the car before the time/mileage is up they will refund the prorated amount back to you!
