"Sports Car" and "Sporty Car"("Sporty Hybrid") are two very different things. Honda called the CR-Z "sporty." The FT-86 and CR-Z have two very different purposes.

Think of the FT-86 as a S2000 with a fixed hardtop. That's basically what it aims to be. Think of the CR-Z as a cooler and more efficient Fit Sport. Clearly they are in very different categories.

The CR-Z can be driven year-round by everyone everywhere, and can be fun year-round. Cars like the FT-86 and S2000 can only be driven year-round by people who rarely see snow (not me). It sucks storing a "sports car" for 3 months of the year, not to mention the fact that my CR-V and S2000 both only average about 22-24 MPG. The CR-Z fixes all of that.

The good news about the FT-86 coming to market is that it may prompt Honda to release a true sportscar again. After all, Toyota is one of their biggest competitors. Bottom line, though, is that the CR-Z and FT-86 were never intended to be in the same class or category, so it isn't really a fair comparison.

Motor Trend has the estimates of 0-60 time of 8.3 seconds... assuming that is in normal with the CVT that could be a great start for a Hybrid car... just think 6MT in "sport" could get around mid-low 7's

It is very good news to hear that Motor Trend has reported a lower estimated 0-60 time. May sway some of the critics....well, maybe

0-60 in 8.0-8.7 range is what I Initially predicted for the 6-MT in Sport mode. Sounds like Motortrend is on the same page as I am. I would be content with 8.3. This will be a fun car to beat up.

I have that motor trend article and they're just guesstimating.
Not like they had the car to really test it.

I've already accepted this car as being slow, im hoping i can take this car on a 35mph off ramp going 60mph with a coffee in my right hand with ease.

Default Compare acceleration to a civic

Does anyone have an idea how will the US CRZ compare to a 2010 Civic Coupe?
Acceleration?
Handling?
General?

The Fit seem to be regarded by most auto journalists as being more fun to toss around than a civic. CR-Z will hopefully handle like the Fit. A faster, better MPG Fit.

I have expected that the CR-Z wouldn't have a lot of power. Its supposed to be a fun little car to drive around but I guess I won't be able to find out if thats true until I test drive it.

Its kind of like the CR-X. It didn't have a lot of power stock. Yeah the CR-Z is heavier but if the suspension geometry is well designed, it could have a very nice feel.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this:
