For those with the roof rack that carried bicycles, are you still able to open the hatch with the bike on the roof?

almost halfway. But you have to be careful, it could bust the glass out. I get enough room to pull my wheel bag out, which also holds my helmet and shoes.

I just got my mudflaps and curt hitch installed all at the same time... Fairly easy install. It wouldnt grasp the factory center hook very well, so i had to put some large fender style washers in there to allow it to clamp properly. The weight of my bike rack and bikes may or may not exceed the tongue weight, so it does have a little flex I was surprised to note. With that is a tiny bit of exhaust rattle, but not enough for me to care about it.

I have the hollywood rack and with the bikes installed, I cant open the hatch b/c of the handle bars. I want to say there is another rack that will fold down to the ground to allow access, but i havent looked yet.

It also addeds enough weight to change the ride height in the rear, but im not opposed to it and it hasnt hindered any performance that I've noticed. Eventually i'll go coilovers and corner balance the car to get the correct spring rate, since i'll always have the hitch on it and dont mind ballast back there!

The Kuat NV and Sherpa do that. But they're both ridiculously expensive. ($550 and $450)

Bump. It's been 7 months, has anybody found the perfect rack yet? I have a Specialized Hardrock 29er which doesn't fit in the back. I don't want to spend extra money installing a hitch. The Superjoe 2 has horrible reviews. And my roof rack prevents the hatch from opening. Please tell me there's some magic rack out there. Pleeeeeease.

To those of you with the trunk mounting ones, would putting a towel/painters tape keep the bumper from getting scratched? A roof rack is pretty much double the price

I have a roof rack for my specialized Tarmac, the only solution I have found to the hatch problem is flip the bike so the handlebars face the rear

Hey guys dumb question.

If I bought the Curt Hitch and the receiver is 1 1/4", will I be able to buy any hitch rack that goes in a 1 1/4" or is there something I'm missing here. (adapters etc)

I'm looking at hitches instead of a roof rack..seems to be more cost efficient without worrying damaging the paint.
