Finally got a chance to check out a 2013 EX and the headlight operation. The DRL's come on as usual when ignition is on and em brake released, and stay on with the parking lights, but go out when the headlights are energized. I can see why they do this as they are very bright by themselves and aren't needed with the headlights. So now if we can find a 12v connection for the LED DRL's it should have a switch also. Problems, problems.
Someone said to run a connection thru-the-firewall to a vacant fuse and install a switch to de-energize the DRL's when lights are on. Anybody got a DIY for this thru-the-firewall and fuse connection install? Doesn't sound easy for us big OLD guys! |

I gotta find someone in Socal to install + do all the electrical stuff for me. I'm probably looking at $800 total maybe? If anyone is familiar with this type of install...I don't mind buying at current price and be the guinea pig of a DIY thread : ) |

I don't know if this helps, but here in Aus the LED daytime running lights are standard on the 2011 model and have always been. Not totally necessary to try and source a 2013 set, but yeah probably expensive just like all the other sources out there.
They connect to fuse 15. They are always on and come on with accessories and dim when the headlights / high beams are on. As far as wiring I can't tell as it's quite tight in there. If i get a chance I'll get some detailed photos of them and try to trace the wiring. The headlight levelling comes from a dial (that I believe is missing from the USDM dash) on the dash on the same side as the 3-mode switches, shown here: http://crz.honda.com.au/resources.as...rz_3button.jpg It's a button, but only comes out to make it easier to turn. The manual states to push it in only to prevent accidentally changing it. It also states that the models that come with HID headlights are auto levelling. They are auto activating though... |

Tapping in to the fuse box and adding a switch would be super simple. ![]() But doing it the OEM way (DRLs on when handbrake is dropped) would not be difficult either. I can scour the firewall for a suitable grommeted-hole. |

Here's another thought, I have a 2013 base model and want to switch over to the EX headlights, I wonder if mine would be in the same boat as you guys or if mine is plug in play. What do you guys think?
