Default Can a manual trasmission crz be push started

This past weekend my car battery was dead after setting at night for ~3 1/2 hours. Think left lights on. Anyway can a manual transmission crz be push started like on the older manual cars, get it moving then let out the clutch? Didn't have room to try it. Was thinking about the anti-theft in the key fob transducer thing. Cars been fine last 3 days since.

I have push started my CR-Z, but this was not with a flat battery. I think you
would want the electronics to boot at least to have any success. This might be accomplished by a 12V jump through the power adapter in the dash. Don't know. K
( I live on a hill and am sometimes just to lazy to turn the key all the way)

The steering reacts funny if you do not start the engine. At first it is stiff
with no assist. Then it figures out that you are moving and kicks in the
electric assist.

The Zed uses the main battery, not the one under the bonnet (hood) , to start the engine so it should start even if the normal battery is flat.

From what I've read in the forums the battery pack only restarts the car after it's initially started. When I was setting there with my dead battery I thought how can I get the car to start from the battery pack. I had no power hardly at all. Only the speedometer light would barely glow, no interior lights, etc. So first thing I checked after the engine battery was jumped with another was the battery pack level, it was full missing one bar.

Whom wants to disconnect their engine battery and try to push start the car, lol.

This car starts fine with a dead battery, push it down a hill with the key in the on position to avoid the wheel lock

Start it in second and you'll only need about 10mph

Done it plenty of times.
Engine will turn over instantly, and will start generating electricity almost the same.

Actually I think this is incorrect (through I might be wrong). When you normally start the CR-Z it's the IMA that turns the engine over - this is why there's no "cranking", because the IMA is significantly more powerful than a starter. The car also has a backup 12v battery and a starter like in a regular car, in case the IMA breaks down, or for very cold weather. A couple of weeks ago I started my CR-Z in -20F weather, and had to hold the key like in a "normal" car, and it made the god-awful cranking noise that I thought I was done with :-) Started up just fine, and away I went without assist. After a few minutes my IMA started doing its thing.
