Referencing the post above. . . The CRZ comes with Synthetic blend from the factory? Is it logical to assume that if I switch to a Full synthetic at my first oil change I will in theory be extending the total miles driven between changes? I'm bringing this up because I came from a Toyota Prius that was "certified" for full synthetic oil and only required oil service every 10k miles or 12 months, so the less $$ the better. |

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the CR-Z comes with a "synthetic" blend as you reference it likely means regular oil+ break in solution = "synthetic" blend, I do not believe Honda puts full synthetic oil in there notors from the factory because of a few reasons, price and once you have full synthetic oil in the motor it is HIGHLY advised to never go revert back to regular not synthetic oil as it could casue leaks or other issues with the motor. In the case of your Toyota Prius what they were likely referencing was that Toyota was trying to upsell syntheti oil as they probably make more money at least initially per oil change since full synthetic oil is more expensive however the benefits of using full synthetic do outweigh the costs at least in my opionion.
The factory oil fill in the 2011-2012 is regular oil+ break in soulution intended to help break in the vehicle properly and as BLACKCRZMA put it ok sorry but i had to speak up i am a honda tech in ma an just to let you know the crz oil (reminder) isnt based off just mileage but each time the car is started the car runs a oil density check for oil viscosity so its not just some dump mileage counter like most cars the crz gets real reading that why some have 10% at 8k miles an some get teh reminder at 11k so do research before you just tell people to waste $45 on a unneeded oil change P.s no one uses (break in oil ) anymore teh crz comes from the plant with a synthetic blended oil just like mobile 1 so dont think you have to change the first only out early like i have seen people say im tell you from a dealer/honda tech point of view bottom line is actually follow the oil life percentage meter within the CRZ dash steering wheel controls as it is more advanced in the way it monitors oil life than only mileage like some vehicles I hope I was helpful in explaing some of your questions. Initial cost means nothing to me, I only ever take my vehicles to the dealer for service, and scheduling service and waiting for my car to be finished is just a pain. ![]() Thanks guys! |

You can find all your answers on that site.. Change the oil at 15 percent MM. 0w20 is either synthetic and maybe semi-synthetic which a great oil.. There is no perfect oil that does every thing, oils that protect are usually bad on mpg and vice a versa. That is why racing oils are for protection and mpg... |
