So 100% no maintenance on the hybrid system (minus battery) itself? That seems too easy; it has moving parts. I can't see an IMA system with 300 miles (gunk in the motor, grease dissolved, ect) being as efficient as a new system, let alone any preventive maintenance.

It has the same number of moving parts as a flywheel. Think of it as a magnetic flywheel. Sometimes it's used as a motor, sometimes used as a generator.
If you get 300,000 miles on it, and if you have the engine and tranny out and separated, you could probably clean it up and improve efficiency a little. It's not on the maintenance schedule though. Keep it sealed and keep it happy. |
