HEY EVERYONE! I just need some input before I freak out... I purchased my CRZ in September of this year and therefore I have only had it almost three months. Everything has seemed to be great on it till not to long ago. A friend had some tools in the trunk and was working on another vehicle so I left the hatch open for a couple hours. I was sitting in my car listening to the radio when it shut off and went back on then my menu said to "Check ABS system". When I was to leave it was clear my battery had died (assuming it was from the hatch door being open for an extended amount of time) Once it was jump started it was fine. So in the situation I had an idea why my battery died. NOW.. I drove my CRZ this morning with no problems what's so ever. It has been sitting in my driveway for a good 8 hours or so..When I went out to start it all the blue bar lights in the dash flickered, radio flickered, then ALL the lights in the dash came on but the car will not turn over. Also it flashed messages now saying.. "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" "CHECK ABS SYSTEM" "CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM" "CHECK VSA SYSTEM" and "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" That is ALL it will do. I know I haven't left any lights on and all the doors have been completely shut. Also when I use my key fob to lock the doors the horn is very quiet and almost dull sounding. It has been a lot colder here then usual since I am in SD. Temp today was around 25-30 degrees. Would the cold have something to do with it since it is a Hybrid? Anybody have any idea if it's a faulty battery or what? I have an appointment made with my Honda Dealer but with the holiday around the corner I can't get in until next Tuesday. Thanks for your input!! ![]() THIS IS SOOO FRUSTRATING!!

There are several threads on this issue. Most seem to have resulted in a battery replacement by the Honda Service Department due to a bad cell(s). Here is one.
My first problem with the crz. Dead 12v Battery I had the experience once (left my lights on) and let the car sit for maybe 10 minutes, went back out and it started right up with no issues since. But, recommend keeping that service appointment so they can test the battery.

But based on other posts, it seems our 12v battery is pretty weak. Guess the engineers decided the IMA batteries would compensate. Don't know if I articulated my experience correctly, but when I left my lights on for 30 minutes or so and came out to a dead battery, I went rummaging through my garage for my cables, but then before I jumped it, I decided to try and start it (after about 10 minutes). It started right up. Thinking the IMA batteries were able to recharge the 12v? ![]() ![]() I have had no issues with Temperature. Still recommend taking it in and have them check the battery for any cell related issues. |
