Default 10,140 miles on Factory Oil (Oil Life 15%)

So, my dealer's oil change sticker in the upper left of my windshield is for a free oil change at 15% oil life for the first oil change.

Well, I finally made it there. 10,140 miles on the factory oil before it reached 15%.

I received some praise from the service manager at my dealership when I scheduled the free oil change appointment.

Hello Jason,

You are set for 10/8.

Congratulations for achieving 10140 miles on your first oil/filter change. That is the highest miles I have seen.

You are also due for a tire rotation at this point.

Thanks,

Mike Q.

Just some general info that you can get a lot of miles out of oil with the oil life system.

^ Great job.. Of course one could refer to ya as a driving "wus" for making that milestone.. (Teasing of course).

But the important thing is it shows what the CR-Z can do.. Great stuff. And contribution...

my mecanic witch i trust very much(good friend of mine)told me that these oil gage with oil life are too reduced the frequancy of oil change because nobody makes money for a oil change its more of a service to the customer that a garage or a dealer provide.so buy instaling oil life gage reduce the number of time they change your oil.they did NOT invented a new oil or there is nothing differant in the ingine that make your oil last longer.oil change are to be made always every 5000klm in a engine if you want it to last to 400000klm. the new way dealer are doing it the engine wont last half as long and by then wanranty is long gone anyways so dealer get to sell more cars.
so i dont know if he is right or not, but my Honda is geting is oil changed every 5000klm like i always done it before...

Not sure why everyone gets so paranoid about listening to the Oil Life minder...

Someone on this forum in this post got their oil analyzed after 10,000+ miles of use and everything was fine. The oil life gauge was right on the money.

I don't personally plan on getting my oil lab tested since I trust the design.

Your car probably shouldn't be shaking to begin with...

For those of you who recommend ignoring the maintenance minder, what is the reason that you're ignoring Honad's oil analysis after 10,319 miles (wizkid posted the link above)? It's the only objective evidence I've seen on these forums that has shown that he changed his oil at the appropriate time.
