I was cruising at 120km/h (75mph) at ECON, with 5 bars on the IMA battery indicator, and 3-4 blue bars shown on the battery assist; about 15 seconds after I disengage the cruise control (still at the same speed), I felt a very minor shake and realized the battery assist blue bars were all gone and changed to 1 green bar on the recharge mode, while the IMA battery indicator still remain at 5 bars. I then realized the shake was caused by the IMA motor shut down, but this never happened before as the battery assist blue bars usually gradually decrease and change to the recharge green bars, that the IMA assist cannot noticable. Just curious if anyone know why/what cause this?

Update:
I went out at lunchtime for a short drive to grab some grocery, everything looks normal as the IMA indicator dropped down to 3 from 5, coast for couple minutes and it recharge back up to 6 bars; the motor assist (blue) & recharge (green) works fine as well, both gradually increase/decrease, will have a much longer drive over the weekends, and will see if the same condition happen again.

I think what your feeling is when the IMA changes to charge mode and the motor becomes a generator, I have the 6mt, and when I lift off slightly on the accelerator, I usually have no indication on the motor assist indicator and then you feel a slight but noticeable change in the power delivery, and a green segment appears on the indicator.
If it's the same as I'm trying to describe, I don't think you have an issue its normal. |
