Default Is it bad to turn off the car before switching to park?

I usually turn off the car before shifting to park. To save from unnecessarily engine start up .

CRZ turns off when slowing down and coming to a complete stop. Then turns on after putting the car to park and off when the key if turned. Kinda annoying.

Is this bad for the transmission ?

I turn it off in D or even N sometimes. I then shift into P and apply the e-brake.

I will start using your method now, one less gear to shift through while the engine is off.

Considering the car was engineered to use the auto shut off and start up features, I would imagine that the impact that it has on the transmission and other parts of the car is minimal...

I did it for years on a civic hybrid; put it in neutral, apply e-brake, release break pedal, put into park (load the e-brake, not the transmission).

Not a bad idea really. Sometimes if I roll into a parking spot after the car Auto Stopped on me I will just kill the key in neutral and than put it into park so it does not restart.
