Default Best way to break in a new CRZ

I will hopefully be getting a crz next week. I have been doing tons of research and reading on here and have not read what the best way to break in a crz is. Should you run it hard for the first xxx amount of miles? Drive it softly for the first xxx miles? Maybe a long roadtrip at 75 mph for a few hundred miles off the factory lot? Fill us in from those of you who may know these things as to what the best method to break in a new car is for both reliability/longevity, and future performance out of this car?

as long as you don't try to giddyup in really high rpm it will be fine. Just drive it casual for around 2000miles imo.

I'm also curious now. Any other opinions?

With a hammer through the side window.

Oh, right, break in, not break into

It's the same as with any other car. Vary frequently the rpm and avoid the very high/low range.

ive read tons of articles about how to properly break in a car.

for my CRZ i babied it for the first 500 km, then drove it like normal for the rest, with a few redline runs.

I figure it would give the best of both worlds of how to break in a car.

I have seen articles that state "drive it like you stole it" for the break in period and they compression tested the exact same cars afterwards and the drive it like you stole it car had better compression than the one that was babied.

just some food for thought

From the manual, p. 200: "During the 1st 600 mi avoid sudden acceleration or full throttle operation so as to not damage engine or powertrain. Avoid hard braking for the first 200 mi and also when brakes or replaced." Good ? cause it forced me to go back and read it again. seems to be different for different cars.

I was looking for that page the other day! I found it in my GF's CR-V manual but couldn't find it in mine. But that is a direct quote from the CR-V and if I recall pretty much the same as what I read in the Element so that's what I did for mine. I'm at a little over 1k miles now so I've been spending some time in Sport mode.
