I'm at the point where I need motor mounts and I have a feeling that I'm not alone, especially with more supercharged CR-Zs turning up. There's just way too much engine movement and we need to get it under control...
So I contacted Innovative Mounts about getting some made. All we need is a set of OEM mounts to send to them and they will make something for us. I've experienced their mounts in a friends TL and it felt really good. You felt more "connected" to the engine, but not so much that there were any harsh vibrations. Nice solid feel. I was envious that we didn't have anything like that yet, not unless we wanted to K-swap...
So would anyone else be interested in doing this?
Does anyone have some OEM mounts left over from their K-swap? Please PM me. NOW.
Glad to see this much interest in these mounts. Makes it look rather promising for us!
If it comes down to it, I would be willing (or ITEM9, I'm sure) to do an install and review of two different durometers. Swapping mounts on these cars is relatively simple, and having back to back comparisons of the two would be beneficial to anyone who's on the fence about which durometer they'd like to commit to.
Anything you could ever want to do to this car is plenty feasible with a small piece of flat ground.
All you'd need to do these mounts is a floor jack and some jackstands. If you've got a transmission jack that would be even handier, but not necessary.
Thanks! I should be good then, as long as someone else does it first! To clarify i was referring to an engine lift, not car lift...But I think you caught that.
My contact at Innovative was off today, but he'll be back tomorrow, so I'll try again then. We got a nice list so far and I'm sure it'll keep on getting bigger, as more people find out about this. Thanks guys for stepping up and helping make this happen. These mounts should really open up the potential for us to get it all down to the ground without too much drama.
No ETA and it's too early to have a price. I'm just trying to speed up the whole process by showing that there is interest in CR-Z mounts with this list. You can get a ballpark price by looking at what the other Innovative mounts cost. Sit tight guys... I'm working on it.
Also, don't sweat over your durometer choices at this point. It's just to get a general idea of what most of us want. I'll be sure to confirm everyone's choices before anything final happens.
Im heading to innovative today to help out a friend get some prototype bushings for his rsx type s. Anybody in particular I shud ask for to get an update/ bug to show interest for crz?
BTW, I am presuming that the mounts are the same across all years up to and including 2014? I have not seen anything saying they might have been changed but just want to confirm.
I'm interested as well. Won't be able to afford them for quite a bit, but you can put me down as a definite interest. Hopefully they keep it around the cost of the other steel mounts. $200 seems reasonable for lifetime warranty. 6MT 75A
Just spoke to tim whos of course been in communication with chris. Tim said they got a couple projects (evo and lotus) before us but in about 2-3 weeks time they shud be on it. I offered my car for test fitting and to confirm if the 11/12s are same as 13/14s which I wud imagine to be the same.
Also due to california new law innovative cannot use mercury as they have in the past and therefore most kits will offer a 65a instead of 60a, and of course the 75a and up. Also after speaking to tim, I was on the fence about 60a vs. 75a and I feel more comfortable with 75a now
