Default Are there ways to upgrade the IMA for more power?

So I was reading something on Honda tech about possible ways to upgrade the IMA system to put out more power. Does anyone here have any concept ideas of how this can be done? They of course mentioned upgrading the battery to Lithium Ion and they adding coils to the IMA plate. What are ways that you all have heard of?

Also, sorry if there's something concerning this already, I searched but didn't really find anything.

Smile Re: Li Ion battery in the 2013 CRZ

I hear that the voltage is also increased from 100.8 v to 144v.
That will gave a substantial increase in torque if the amperage is the same.

"The electric motor system has also been improved. The change from a Nickel-metal hybrid to a Lithium Ion battery has been accompanied by an increase in power from 14 PS (10 kW) to 20 PS (15 kW).

Working in unison, the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system now delivers a combined output of 137 PS at 6600 rpm (+13 PS) and 190 Nm of torque (+16 Nm). The 0-62 mph sprint time falls from 9.7 sec to 9.0 sec and top speed is 124 mph. The combined consumption is 56.5 mpg and 116 g/km of CO2."

It says there's an increase in power to the wheels from the upgrade to the IMA system. As well as a cut down on 0-60 time with better mpgs. Seem's like a good upgrade to me. Everything is a little better.

I still don't like the front end though. If we could swap a 2011-12 front bumper with that one I'd be down.

I think that just swapping the whole battery/controller assembly might possibly work. I don't think there are any changes to the motor itself or to the high voltage cable; there really don't need to be. An AC electric motor is really passive device and it's operation is largely dependent on the capabilities of it's controller. Throw more voltage at it and it will make more power. It's very likely that the electric motor and cable are rated for much more than what the current CR-Z/Insight are putting out. If everything plugs in and speaks the same language, it might work.

The only thing that might screw it up, is the S+. However, with everything being on a CAN network maybe the S+ issue could be worked around by swapping a few other things like the gauge cluster and main ECU. Add in the S+ switch and we might be in business...
