This DIY is for those of you with the CVT and are interested in changing out the stock shifter for another one that, in my opinion looks more refined. I figured I'd post up a DIY for this quick and simple mod for you. Before I start I'd like to thank Romiata for his help obtaining part numbers for the plastic shifter plate cover. As mentioned before this mod is quick and easy and only took me 5 minutes to complete, well 10 minutes, which included snapping the photos and putting all the tools away. It took me longer to type this up than it did to do the install! Speaking of which you will need the following tools and parts: -Phillips Head Screwdriver -Small Flat Head Screwdriver -Your key -Honda Fit leather wrapped shifter, part# 08U92-TK6-110A -Honda Fit plastic shifter cover, part# 54132-TF0-951ZA Shall we begin? Shifter part number: ![]() Shifter cover part number: ![]() Honda Fit Shifter with plastic shifter cover: ![]() 1. Make sure you are on level ground, take the small flat head screwdriver and pry the plastic off the shift release slot: ![]() 2. Insert your key into the slot, push down and shift into neutral: ![]() 3. Using the small flat head screwdriver again, pry the pleather, (plastic leather) piece to reveal the other screw holding the shifter into place: ![]() 4. Using your phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the two (2)screws shown: ![]() ![]() 5. Once the two (2) screws have been removed the shifter should be free of the shifter itself. Pull directly upward and it will be free of the shift tree. (It doesn't take very much effort). You will notice two (2) notches on the shift tree itself, this is where the screws will secure the new shifter (not pictured): ![]() 6. Take your new Honda Fit shifter and replace it on the tree in the reverse order. You may test it out by pulling on the small lever shifting from neutral to drive and back to make sure it is working properly: ![]() 7. Using the two (2) new screws that came with the shifter, replace them and tighten them down on the tree: ![]() ![]() 8. Once the two (2) screws have been tightened and secured, take the plastic shifter cover and snap it into place: ![]() 9. Replace the shifter release slot cover: ![]() That is all there is to it! Enjoy the look and feel of your new shifter. Here is a picture of the old and new side by side: ![]() Pictures of the new shifter: ![]() ![]() I hope that this was helpful to someone, if it did help you out let me know and show some love. Thank you all for taking the time out to read this. Take care and drive safe! Best regards, ~Rico

My first thought when I read the title, was "Why? I like the futuristic look and feel of the OEM knob." But after looking at your results, this really interests me after I get my seat covers.
Nice job sir! |

On a side note, I once drilled, threaded a baseball, and installed it as my shift knob on a truck I once owned. It was cool and I got lots of compliments. |

Thank you all for the great feedback and comments, anything I can do to help out the forum or another member, I'm all for it. Romiata inspired the mod and I took it one step further to help put the word out. Like Scotty said, I think these will start to fly off the shelves. It is an alternative to our "futuristic" looking shifter, for those that want the more subdued look.=)
dsands, I know they come in different colors, you might have to call up Honda parts and ask, I know the shifter cover comes in different colors as well, good luck! Thanks again everyone, and happy modding!=)

I asked College Hills Honda to possibly do a group buy on this a few weeks ago. They aid they would look into it... Hopefully they, or another vendor, could accommodate anyone interested
