Cool CR-Z Bed

Alright, I apologize in advance if this is not the right section but I'm picking up my CR-Z next week (leased so can't play with it all that much) and I was planning on making a bed out of my trunk.
Yeah, It is exactly what you are thinking, but come on it would be at least a little romantic watching the starts through the back window, they ought to like it, unless that window is too dark to see any stars, in which case i would still do it because I am really looking forward to transforming my trunk into a love hotel.
Any good ideas on what I could do, such as what kind of mattress i can put in there (Does it need to be custom? Where do i get it?) or any LEDs somewhere. I'm open to ideas

I have seen a lot of lowriders use cardboard, foam, and then velvet, which would probably hold up to very light duty use, but to lay on I doubt that. You could do something similar the fabric would just have to be real strechy. Perhaps attaching it to some very thin plywood. For the foam perhaps some temparpedic pads they sale at like walmart for bedding add ons, or the good old egg crates and just double up on them. As for how to attach everything there are many different ways to go about that. I would probably suggest something that straps the fabric from one end to the other under the wood. While it might work its way loose from time to time, at least it would not rip up your fabric. They do sale items like this made for beds, they attach close to each corner, to keep people who toss and turn from pulling off the sheets all the time. An alternative idea would be to by metal eyes, they look like the things your shoelaces go through on shoe, you could attach that to the fabric, and use string to tighten it up. They are easy to install to fabric. You pop a hole, and then just snap the eyes together through the cloth.

Good luck. I would suggest maybe searching the internet for custom interiors, particularly lowriders to get some ideas.

Maybe cover the bed and sides in purple crushed velvet, and put mirrors all over the ceiling? I think you can get Tiger Striped Satin sheets at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Too bad there isn't room for a Hot Tub, and a Disco ball. You can use the glove box as a wine cooler! Don't forget your pipe and smoking jacket, and Humperdinck on the stereo... a stud like you has to cover all of the angles! Don't forget to read Playboy for the latest seduction tips.... (is your name Hugh, by any chance?)

I had a cat-bed in back recently... but I second the "you can't be serious" talk.

Go buy a Silverado Truck and get some "Mud on the Tires" with the girl. Go look up Brad Paisley if you have no clue what I'm talking about.

I actually tried taking a nap in the back of my CR-Z once with the cargo area folded down - I'm 5-10 and the roof was wayy too low for me to be comfortable. I also had to have my feet sticking out between the front two seats - definitely don't recommend at all!

Just because I brought up lowriders doesn't mean it has to be tacky. There are many things to be learned from techniques used by lowriders when it comes to customizing, they do take things to the extreme, but doesn't mean you can't mellow them out for everyday ideas.

I personally don't think I could lay in the back, but to each his own.

you must be too young to get my point. That is all pointed at the fabled 1960's playboy ala Hugh Hefner. It was ridiculous then, and it would be now too... just like trying to turn the CR-Z into a bachelor pad.

I grew up in a small Texas town.. with lots of low-riders. Some of them are just good people who love cars.... but a lot of them are into gangs, drugs and violence! I doubt that you even know any... probably just think the the extreme "crap" is cool.

Anyone that is trying to turn the CR-Z into a "bed" to try to get laid is pretty goofy. Unless you date 16 year old skanks that you have to get drunk first, I don't know any women that would even consider it!

Female members.. please feel free to comment on this idiocy!
