I am getting my CRZ soon.. So I am planning to do a paint protector on my ride as soon as I get it.. Done some surveys here.. Theres Teflon coat and silica based coat..? Which one is the best for protecting the car factory paint for a fine wet look / glossy finish? and in terms of maintanace ..(going to the spa fixing the cost every 6 months etc) I've done some googled research.. But need your opinions.. As well.. In terms of price its most likely in the same range.. Can some one enlighten me on this? Thanks a million..

IMO, nothing that I've seen has good adhesion to the outer clearcoat of modern automobiles.
That is, most things placed on the outside of the clear coat will likely come off of the clear coat rather quickly. The exception are the wraps like the "clear bra" or other thin films. Assuming you aren't going with a wrap/film coating, there is no point to pay money for them. You're basically getting a super-expensive wax-job that will likely be gone if there is any regular weather or car wash pattern. You could probably afford a yearly professional exterior detail for the cost of most of these special exterior applications... and you'd achieve the same result. |

Welcome aboard!
The day after I got my CR-Z I went to town on the paint, here's what I did: -good hand wash -clay barred the entire car, including the glass -applied 3 coats of Zaino Z-5 pro w/ZFX Waited about 3 days, washed it again and: -applied 2 coats of Zaino Clear Seal over a 2 day period. After that I went crazy, this stuff is so easy to use that I would use Z-CS sometimes after a wash, its so easy to use that it makes keeping your car looking its best and keeping it well protected that much easier. Even over the winter its done a great job but then again I'm a bit "special", look at my sig (I bought the car on Sept 10th, 2011) Now you don't need to do it that ofter for sure, but a good rule of thumb is this: Every 4 monthes a "complete detail" -clay bar -polish -wax/sealant Inbetween the 4 monthes: -hand washes/touch-free washes -use a quality quick detailer after washes and inbetween washes. I hope this helps and if you've got any question, feel free to drop me a PM or post it in here.

Thanks for the details bros.. The main idea I just wanna keep a glossy wet look for my ride..as I am a very particular and detail person.. As for my current car I am just keeping it clean by washing it once a week and manually apply special car wax for white paint.. So just wanna do the same with extra special car for my up coming Z.
But seems like klasee idea's has answered my question.. And thanks to donut as well.. U guys are great.. |
