Talking *Graffic pics inside*

So we got hit with our 2nd snow storm in 2 or so weeks on Friday, 7" worth this time and the CR-Z was lookin' grim....

Now that's about 2+ weeks of dirt, grime and salt so I actually hit the touch-free wash first to get the underbody washed off and then got it home and finished it with ONR. When the car is that dirty, a touch-free wash NEVER gets it completely clean and always leaves this haze of dirt/salt behind and ofcoarse it did this time but no worries, ONR to the rescue!

As you can see almost all that 7" of snow is melted too but that's what happens when its in the upper 30's and rain for all of Sunday. I waited till today to wash the car because I wanted to see if more of the dried up salt dust was gone off of the road and it was. I know I'm going to hit a puddle here and there (I will try to avoid them, I always do!) but that's ok, the sight of the car cleaned up made my day!

My buddy told me that users of ONR have been using this grout sponge to wash their cars with this and apparently its all the buzz on the detailing forums (surprisingly, I'm on none of them) I got one that's micorfiber on one side and well, sponge on the other. I also picked up a bucket so I can do the "2 bucket method" as well, we'll see how it goes.

There is one brand of grout sponge that passes Zaino's test to not scratch the clear coat. I forgot the name of it, but it's not just any ole grout sponge...unless you're the kind of person that thinks anything with the word "microfiber" is safe.

I hear you on the microfiber but I've been using a microfiber wash mitt for years w/o a problem. I'm going to try and contact them to see what brand it is and where to get it, I do trust them as I'm a recent convert to their products

NEW Professional Fine Pore Sponge Each Tile & Grout Sponges AF2L 078572048997 | eBay

Found this one and its much more than I paid for mine and FWIW, it says professional grade and looks to be more of a specialized product than the one I bought I also found ONR w/ 4 grout sponges for like $44.00 too. When I get it in the mail and finally get the chance to use it, I'll report back in but I also picked up another 5 gallon bucket to do the "2 bucket method" of washing too.

I made some calls and my sources say that "Lake Country Blue Grout Sponge" will pass a variety of test including the one where you rub it on a CD and it won't leave any marks.

I Googled them in shopping at $5.99

Damn, looks I overpaid a bit for mine, but I'll be doing that test with a cd when mine comes in too, just to see Lake County seems to make some good pads for wheels, so it only makes sense that they've got a good grout sponge too. Its been wierd talking about grout sponges and car washes in the same sentence lately, see, you learn something new everyday, just gotta open your mind to change

Go ahead and test your favorite microfiber and other items you scrub your car with.

Bought this one from Ebay, imported from Greece. It was $10.99 w/ free shipping. Oh and BTW Jay, I tested out the one I bought earlier, it didn't mark up the cd at all.

Thumbs up

This is just a recent pic of my car but here's the thing, our winter has been rather mild compared to the last 2 winters here but we've had 2 6"+ storms, not to mention a couple small burst that don't really count but what does count is the amount of salt used here, they use ALOT! Now in the past at this point of the year, even after keeping up the car wish touch-free washes, there's always been some "grit" on the surface, pretty normal at this point but IMO the combo of being able to hand wash with ONR and the multiple coats of Zaino have kept the finish flawless this winter. I mean before using the ONR I was hitting the touch-free wash like normal, but I'm just blown away with the performance of the Zaino and ONR, what a team!
