I'm still a noob at this and taking it slow. Last "seasons" (all three races) tires were Hankook Ventus V12s, which are good summer tires but really not good AutoX tires. This season, I'm going with the Yoko Advan Neovas (wider, softer, stiffer sidewalls). Should be about equivalent to the Direzza's (in theory, wider and lighter). But I've been trying to keep the wheel weight under control while still getting more grip. I like the way it drives now but always looking for a little more!

Basis Sport Tuning Carbon OEM Lip... thats some Aero for you!!

The CRZ really doesnt need that much Aero the car already has a full undertray. What you really need is a good wing to hold the back down.

Don't tempt me!

I always liked those GT wings like on the Honda CRZ Hybrid R. But I'd be worried about birds nesting on it !

1. It is a production part which is standard or optional equipment of a US model of the vehicle.

2. It is listed in the vehicle manufacturer’s US accessory catalog for that vehicle for normal highway use. This does not allow for parts sold through a manufacturer’s performance catalog (e.g., Ford Racing, HPD, MazdaSpeed, Mopar Performance, Mugen, NISMO, SPT, TRD, etc).

Parts must be installed as directed by the manufacturer. Exact replicas (including weight) from alternate sources are also permitted.

Which basically says, no aftermarket aero. The stock aero is lame. None of this effects performance so why should it matter ?

Are those the Draft Rules for STF or HS? I only ask as Stock classes are very limited as to what can be on the car. It is pretty consistent. Also, in SCCA SOLO at a national level, there is usually 1 or 2 cars that dominate a given class unless there is an exceptional driver with a different car. Not every car in a class is truly equal, but they do a good job put cars in the correct classes with each other. So, if you want to win in STF or HS every single time, you need to become a great driver and find the car that is the best in those classes given the class modification restrictions.

Section 14 is Street Touring Category.

Section 13 is Stock Category.

But you are correct, its a lot more about the driver, which is what makes it interesting.

I'd like to get into this; my build should be perfect for this class. Where do I start?

Download the Rule book and read over all the allowed modifications for "street Modified". This will tell you how fare you can go with your build. If you have done something that is not listed but does not affect performance your local race group should not have an issue with that.
