Default San Antonio Autocross in the CR-Z #3

My third time in the CR-Z and I took 2nd out of 20 in the novice class, even beating out the GTO's, stock Corvettes, a 350Z, a Cobra and a few Miattas in unadjusted raw times (5th of 20 there).

I put a suction cut on each back window, ran a bar between them and mounted the camera on the bar... worked GREAT. The sound is nothing but wind coming through the windows though. It was kind of interesting to see how much twisting the car does during a run. Look how much the center of the dashboard moves around compared to the timer I added.

My next event will be my last in Novice and I am told "Tire" is a normal next step. Questions on that in another thread.

Nice job.

The video is blocked at work but I got to watch it on my iPhone at lunch. I've been putting the camera on the windshield below the mirror. I real like the view you got mounting it on the back hatch. I'll try that next time.

How did you put the timer in? It's really cool.

The timer was done in Final Cut Pro. This weekend I may try a different mounting, but I doubt it will get any better than what I already achieved.

Very nice. Good driving. Is that a CVT ? What tires are you running? Also are you on stock springs? Thanks.

2 more autocrosses in the last 2 weeks. The first was a SPOKES event. I was the only H-Stock car out there. 38th of 90 in adjusted PAX time. I tried 2 cameras, one on each rear quarter pannel. It lets me see how close I came to the cones, but it doesn't offer much for perspective.

This past weekend was a SASCA event. I placed first out of 2 in H-stock, 40th out of 91 in adjusted PAX time. Not bad for a bone stock CR-Z with craptastic tires.

Camera was back to it's normal spot. That's me yelling "GRIP!!!" at the tires... and no, I didn't wipe out the finish cones, but it sure was close.

STILL HAVING A BLAST!

Next weekend I am doing my first real track day at Harris Hill Road. I expect to be the slowest car out there, especially once my batteries are drained (22 minute sessions). I will post on that next week.

Funny how autocross in the US looks so different than here in the EU yet its essentially much the same

Why are you having a co-driver while racing? doesn't the extra weight bother you?

How do you attach the camera so perfectly centered in the back?
