Default Laminex Discoloration?

Hey Guys,

So I put some yellow laminex over my fog lights to dress them up and hopefully prevent the dreaded CFLS (Cracked Fog Light Syndrome) a couple of months ago. (I cracked a light literally the day before I got the film. ) I run my fogs with my headlights most of the time (Rice!) and haven't noticed any alteration or discoloration of the film until just the other day.

Seems totally weird to me. I would have thought this would have happened almost immediately if at all. No change in my light usage so maybe it's been working it's way up to the brown stage and wasn't noticeable until it was too late?

This happen to anybody else?

That looks like it could be from the heat of the halogen bulb, same reason the lenses crack.

Upgrade to HID or LED fogs and you wont have the heat. Maybe Lamin-x would replace the films for you?

Shouldn't put any kind of film on foglight lens if you have halogens... I dont think the manufacturer will replace that because it's a user error....

Get yourself some 3000k HID's =)

Upgraded mine to HID's as well before installing the Lamin-x. But still, Id contact the dealer u bought them thru to see if theyd hook you up. The films are pretty inexpensive... and they dont instruct you to change your fog light bulbs before the install.

Not your fault imo.

This is NOT user error... are you kidding me? They sell the film for our fog light specifically. They don't sell them 'in case you change your bulbs to something else.' I would definitely contact the re-seller and ask for a refund or replacement. Although to avoid another set of burned covers, I would replace the bulbs before replacing the film.

I have mine on for 6 months and they are clear as the day I put them on and I drive at night 6 nights a week with fogs on for about an hour a day . Could be UV damage or some other reaction , don't think heat is the issue but it's easy and cheap enough to replace every so often if needed .

Well I gave Lamin-x a ring that they said they'd be glad to replace them. Sent an email along with some pix and should be receiving the replacements soon.

Glad to hear that. I wish all vendors would back their products this way.
