from what i've read online, i guess i need: - all the brackets, sliders, etc to fit a sparco seat (sparcos seem to be the best bang for the buck). I need forward/backwards adjustability, don't need height adjustability. - all bolts, etc. - any resistors, etc so that I don't get airbag lights. Also, not sure about the passenger side 'weight detector' for the passenger airbag deployment? i'm tired of searching online, i can't find much info for the cr-z in the aftermarket seat dept. |

What's wrong with the seats?
Don't forget you'll be losing the airbags that are in the seats if you swap them for aftermarket. That may have implications with your insurance if you get into an accident and there are injuries. Those airbags would be nice to have when you get T-boned by an F350... Just throwin' that out there.

I agree; the stock seats are terrible.
Here are some seat rails from GoTuning that should fit... Go Tuning Unlimited The CR-Z is available in Japan from the factory with Recaro's... but I think it would cost too much to import those parts. http://www.honda.co.jp/ACCESS/cr-z/i...r/sports_seat/ If you're serious about this, there's no point in nanny-ing you about insurance and stuff. |

the stock seats just get uncomfortable on long trips - I think the foam might be a little too soft for the seat cushion and you end up getting pinched where the cushion and side bolster meet.
those seat brackets look do-able although a little pricey. any thoughts on how to avoid airbag lights, etc? i know there's an implied safety risk by taking out the OEM seats, but I do a lot of long distance highway driving and the stock seats are driving me nuts. |

If you don't need the full racing supports (ie full lumbar and helmet rests) you should consider having an upholstery shop add some seat-foam under the stock seat fabric. There was a long thread on the forum where many of us (myself included) found the seats painfully uncomfortable on long drives.
One of the members had a wedge shape of seat foam added (presumably with the fat part of the wedge near the back part of the seat and the thin part of the wedge closer to the knees). I went the route of adding Clazzio covers and inserted my own foam density pads in a similar fashion between the stock seat and the Clazzio cover. Clazzios are tested to work with factory side airbag deployment. These may be cheaper/easier routes versus a full seat upgrade. |

I think there is a certain resistance that the SRS system looks for in the airbag. You can wire in a resistor to fool the system to think that it's there. Something like 2.2 ohms from what I can remember; better look into what resistance people have used to get this to work for Hondas.

Slightly, even with the added padding they just don't feel right. It's hard to explain but after about 45 minutes I get squirmy and cannot get comfortable. On the flip side I drove my Charger from St Louis to Indianapolis one time and felt great. |
