Default Anything to keep things cool

I have taken the K&N Typhoon Intake and made it a true cold air intake. Using some ABS plastic, I fully enclosed the heatshield and air filter from the warm air of the engine bay. I also made sure it's tightly sealed all the way up to the hood. I also used the removed air hose from the factory airbox to direct the cold air from the fresh air scoop to the filter.

What's going on under the mesh

btw..the opening in the heatshield on the left side of compartment I had to leave open for now to allow the stand for the hood to slide and snap into the factory location. I will later relocate the stand and then seal off the area.

you can see it in my pic under the duct. That is the factory scoop...you will just need to seal it on either side if you wish, but there is a scoop there the length of the openings on the grille.

very innovative Def will be doing something similar once i get my typhoon. Cant do a CAI here in tallahassee with the flooding, so this seems like a logical way to get colder air to the intake

That's a great mod! I wouldn't worry about the small opening for the prop rod. The hot air is just sitting under the hood while the cold air you have rushing in from the bumper opening is moving very quickly so I would bet the cold air will keep the warm air out.

Great work! Very innovative !

Thank you very much...I'm feeling a little bit more spirited especially on the highway now!

Seeing the duct again makes me realize that it wouldn't be functional for that new takeda Sri... . This however is a glorious idea.

Thumbs up Great Mod! YOU THA MAN!!!!

I've been considering the same bumper duct mod--and thinking "is there a way to close the gap between that carbon bumper duct and the front of ANY untake (Takeda or K&N)?

Very innovative indeed. Gives me even MORE ideas! Thanks for posting, bro!
