Thumbs up Gone MUFFLER-LESS and added a polished SS tip!

After finding and hearing a CR-Z on YouTube w/o a muffler I decided to take the plunge and do this to my CR-Z and I couldn't be happier! I ordered the tip on Ebay for $38.00 shipped and the exhaust shop charged me $50.00 to remove the muffler, add a straight pipe and new hanger and weld on the exhaust tip, so for under $90.00 I completely changed the sound of my CR-Z and gave it some some TUDE

If you looking for something not obnoxious, this is the way to go IMO, check it out!

Now I know some of you wanna know how it "really" sounds and the I guess the best way to explain it is when you get off the gas it back fires, spits and pops while in 2nd gear, I love that! Going down the road in 6th gear gives a slight sound that something is there but its not loud at all, so no worries there, trust me, this is coming from a 41 year old guy who's had many cars back in the day that were LOUD, muscle cars FWIW. I think its quieter than say an SRT-4 Neon for instance, that has no muffler from the factory. BTW, the muffler is the ONLY mod I did, I left the rest of the exhaust alone, including the OEM resonator.

I didn't do a video on my cellphone because that's not going to do this any justice IMO but there's the vid on YouTube though.

CRZ Rev Outside - YouTube

The exhaust "burbles" when letting off but not all the time but usually, I really like it and am now looking forward to driving my car even more now! Not only that, how about getting next to those old hippies and Prius' and letting off the gas next to them

Nicely done, the only thing I dislike(easily fixed if you wanted) would be how low it hangs.

I didn't want it too close to the diffuser and have it melt it a bit

I just hacked mine off at the muffler and left the little piece of pipe there.

Most exhaust shops I know of are willing to hook you up with a full custom exhaust setup if they have a slow day. You pick the size piping, cat, resonator, muffler combo and they'll take care of the rest. Or sometimes it's a good idea to just get one or two parts custom made such as your axleback or removing the second cat, etc.

That's the way to go on a perf car but on this car, I don't see the need to go with a cat-back system on this engine. I mean if you go with too large of piping your going to end up LOSING power and that's the last thing you wanna do with this car for sure. I mean if you did a header with a slightly larger exhaust w/ a free flowing cat and good muffler, you'd gain a noticable amount but in the end, would the cost justify the gain, again, probably not worth it IMO. That said, if I had the money to get the new HKS supercharger I'd want a complete upgraded exhaust for that though for sure.

What I did to my car is "kinda" like an axle-back, sans the muffler but with leaving the stock resonator, I have a single, baffled muffler anyways I really enjoy going out to my car knowing that its got such a nice sound now, a little tude' goes a long way. I can't wait to get the K&N typhoon, this way it makes a great sound in the front AND back

most of the b pipes and axle backs have been proven to make power. the downpipe alone is 5hp.
