Default Switchblade Key

How much did your local Honda dealers charge to cut and program those switchblade keys?

My dealer quoted me $75 I'll be finding a locksmith who can do it because that's outrageous for something that takes them all of 10 minutes.

i found two possible solutions from ebay that dont require reprogramming. (move the button with chip casing to the new key) then take it to locksmith for cutting

NEW Honda Remote Case Replacement Switchblade Key Uncut | eBay

New style Switchblade Remote KEY Shell HONDA 3 Buttons | eBay

it seems #1 might work better because you keep the origianl button. anyone have any experience to comment?

there's a thread in the DYI section about those keys and the problem is the transponder is further away from the key in those and sometimes doesn't pick up the signal allowing you to start the car.

The ebay one worked for me, the key was just getting a bit stuck in the cylinder. My dealer cut my key for free.

My personal problem was that the body of the flip key wouldn't allow me to push to key in far enough to disengage it from the ignition. Other then that, it worked fine. It was a project I gave up on because of the hassle I was continuously having.

I brought my blank into Honda and they cut it for like $13 with taxes and all. Normal flip keys are thicker too so you have to be careful about that too. Good Luck!

I can't seem to find a part number on mine, but I think 2006 and newer TSX and newer keys work.

I remember hearing the newest CRV keys have a switchblade option which works. Check on the FitFreak forum. They use the same imoblizer and ignition system and they are all about those kinds of mods.
