Default Looking for tighter handling, what should I get?

Hello friends!

I am a newbie to modifying anything but the engine! I want tighter handling, better cornering. I won't be bothered by a rough ride, I just want a lower center of gravity, and to be a bit faster around the corners! I'm not sure what I would need, so I need help! What are some good products / hardware I should get? What would I be looking at spending (poor college student). I don't think I can afford any top dollar stuff, but I still want some decent quality. Thanks all.

if you cant afford top dollar, then you shouldnt be modifying a new car. What's to say you mess something up and have to pay out of pocket for a new part that isnt covered under warranty.

Parts for the CRZ arent like an old civic, new parts cost money.

that being said, you could look into a rear sway, the lower center of gravity is great, but wont help you if you dont have money to replace struts once you blow those running lowering springs. Also the rear sway bar will help with body roll and firm everything up a little better.

That would be my first if i was doing it on a budget.

After that look into rim/tire upgrades before lowering. There is a lot of body roll coming from the squishy sidewalls on the stock 16"s

get some swift springs and go from there they're in stock and I can give you a good deal. Once you get springs you can look into sway bars and chassis reinforcement.

I really like my HKS Hipermax IIIs but they are pricy ~$2,000 + shipping and installation. You can probably get decent coilovers for 1/2 that and put them in yourself (I put mine in myself - even if the instructions are in Japanese!)

Agreed - on a budget or not willing to put too much money into the car - best bang for your buck on a daily driver is lowering/performance springs.. Search the forum on the keyword "Springs" and will easily spend the evening doing research and learning alot. Once you install springs - then you can start looking at other options..

and your shocks go and your left spending 100-150 per corner for new struts... real value...

Springs and a rear sway bar and call it a day. Better tires later on, stock tires are garbage.
